Oral history interview with Rebecca Altschuler, 1976 May 19.

Rebecca Altschuler was active in the unions of the Philadelphia school system from the early 1930s until she left in 1956. In this interview she discusses the "one-hundred percent promotion" plan, discrimination, "dual-lists," and the communist methods of taking over the union meetings. She talks about the beginning of collective bargaining in Philadelphia and compares the problems in the schools today with those in the 1950s.
